The Last Days of a Vintage Summer: Shooting with William Perez

This past summer photographer William Perez shot me in my secret Central Park spot. I’ve been coming here since I was little, first with my parents and then with my diary. It was here that I had several first kisses, and more than a few long cries.

This spot will always feel like hope for me. Like nervous hand-holding and self-conscious hair twirling. Like when-will-he-kiss-me and when-will-I-love-myself, hope.

Returning here reminds me how wonderful it feels to feel… everything.

I think these photos speak for themselves, but I’ve added a few words taken from my early diaries. These are bits of poems and books that meant something to me then, and even more to me now.

To see more of Perez’ work, check out his website. Perez shoots both editorials and behind the scenes at NYFW. Definitely worth a peek…

Until next time!
